Is the Panchakarma cleansing programme suitable for me?

The retreat is designed primarily as a cleanse and not primarily as a vacation: for example, you need to adjust to the times the clinic provides for your treatments. The scheduling of the treatments at the clinic is managed directly by the clinic itself.

3

The detox includes a strict Ayurvedic diet without alcohol and smoking, and adherence to a sleep regime. Unfried food, without meat, without sugar and milk and coffee will be consumed. For example, the main course can be vegetarian thali, vegetarian curry, daal and kitcher. During the cleanse, emotions and toxins can be flushed out so you can work through a more challenging period. So please don’t think of your stay primarily as a vacation, but as a deeply transformative experience!

The accommodations are about a 15-min walk from the clinic and a 5-min walk from the beach, close to nature. You are in the tropics, which means that there may be frogs, geckos, and other small animals in the garden, but rarely inside the cottage. The weather is tropical and warm, and there may be a few short rain showers in late October.

You can walk to the clinic leads either through the local market or along the beach. You can also take a taxi or scooter. Alternatively, accommodation near the beach and closer to the clinic can be arranged, but prices may vary.

The retreat takes place in India, where culture and the standard of living are different than in Europe, and the same conditions as in developed countries cannot be expected. It is common to see garbage on the street there, one can see abandoned animals, dogs may bark even at night, there are various smells, people have different habits, there is a lot of honking on the roads, etc.

“It was my first time in India and I savoured every second I lived in Goa. Lenka is an enthusiastic and energetic guide who introduced me to the world of Ayurvedic treatments. The clinic along with the therapists were fantastic, the doctor understood every point about me before I spoke. Veena, my therapist, indulged my desire to have light and truly beneficial treatments to reactivate and rejuvenate my body after intense periods of illness and operations.

The group I experienced this with was diverse in age, culture and interests, but each person was attentive to the care of the other.

It was truly a wonderful experience.”

“I was very happy with Lenka`s hotel choice and her client service. She cared about every detail, but also left you some space for being on your own. Everybody in town seemed to know Lenka and she told us about all the good places and warned against scams. The clinic was professional and “truly Indian”. Not a fancy overpriced retreat center, but normal local establishment for a reasonable price. I also loved the combination of India, Ocean and Ayurveda. I also loved the combination od India, Ocean and Ayurveda. That was great! I enjoyed. 2 weeks of Ayurveda treatments and I will definitely come again.”

“I highly recommend it, it’s a matter of the heart. Panchakarma here has completely changed my life! Now I am young, happy, slim, healthy and pain-free and I am looking forward to going to India and seeing the doctor again in the fall, I think he will be surprised when he sees me twenty kilos lighter!

I have lost almost five kilos, ten centimetres around my waist. I feel great, I don’t feel bloated, the swelling has disappeared. My joints have stopped hurting, my headaches have stopped.

I also have a firmer body because I swam in a beautiful natural pool every day.

At first, still in Prague, I was completely terrified of what I would experience during my stay. Everyone told me: “Jesus, it’s going to be crazy!” And so I imagined how I would throw up all the time here and will spend the entire stay on the toilet. And yet, even the enemas were not scary at all, on the contrary, I feel relief and purification.”

“The Ayurvedic stay in India has been the only one that has helped me health-wise so far. A beautiful exotic environment and a pleasant human approach together with the doctor’s professional and careful supervision can do wonders. I can only recommend!”

“If you go for the first time to India for Panchakarma I recommend you to go with Lenka. Lenka introduced me to Dr. Rohit, an experienced Ayurvedic Doctor ranking among the best, as well as to physioterapist Rajbir Dhillon. Both helped me to improve my neurological condition. For the whole three weeks of the stay, I only ate Panchakarma food at family restaurant Ketan owned by Pratima—and lost 10 kg. I was also drinking coconut water every day.

Next to Ketan restaurant there is a shop with clothes owned by Sita, who is a great person, offers fair prices, and is also nice to talk to. I stayed at Avalon hotel in a villa (in the small building), which was clean, and thanks to a regular roof, I did not experience any insects visits beside few ants. The cleaners were always helpful and available. Bathrooms in the villa were also very clean. There was a nice garden, too. The main reception offered filtered water at any time of the day.

My normal day looked like this: In the morning at 5:30 I’d get up and walk 15 minutes to the clinic for physio yoga (500 Rps for lesson), then I’d have Panchakarma treatment at the clinic for 1.5 hours (included in price), then I’d take a five minute walk to Pratima for breakfast (included in price – porridge with fruits), then I’d go to Lazy Dog Beach (5 minutes walk) where there were also nice amenities. You could also surf there and pay about 2500 Rps for a surf coach. Then I’d go for lunch to Pratima again (included in price). Then I’d usually go swimming in the sea again to see sunset on the beach, then back to Pratima again for soup or other Panchakarma food, which I paid, but it was really cheap (150-250 Rps). Then I’d go to sleep. Lenka created a WhatsApp chat where we could discuss any topics or agree on treatment times changes among each other.

You could organize your daily programme by yourself, which was good for me. I was happy not to be placed in a resort where everything is on same spot, as I really like to walk and observe the local life. You need to be prepared for a lot of dogs on streets and on the beach, but they are friendly. There are also more mosquitos at around 6 PM. During the walks, you can come across some dirty parts of the village. We usually also fed the dogs and cats on our way. You cannot expect any particular night-life, but if you want to, you can take a taxi for about 600 Rps to Arambol city. The most important thing for successful Panchakarma is to have an experienced doctor, which we had. I wish you could benefit from this, too. Have a great time in India!”
